Our Gardens
Gardening is our happy place! The stunning views looking out at the Portuguese mountains and the vineyards below, we were thrilled by the possibility of creating our very own botanic gardens.
Our ¾-acre (0.30 hectare) property spans five levels, and poco a poco—little by little—we’re transforming each space into something unique.
Each level has taken on a life of its own. Our rose garden features over 30 roses, 16 of them David Austin English roses. Our vegetable garden changes with the seasons, and Kyle always has a variety of unique vegetables, including tomatoes, peppers, squash, greens, cucumbers, root vegetables, and melons.
Scattered throughout the property, we have a variety of fruit trees—apples, pears, peaches, lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits, avocados, bananas, figs, prickly pear, and passion fruit—along with herbs, jasmine, gardenia, succulents, and lots of mature trees, and flowers.
We’re currently working on creating a Japanese-inspired garden, complete with a hórreo-style pondless fountain.
Our gardens keep us busy, always learning something new, and keeping us in shape!
You can follow along on the blog as we share our journey through gardening, renovations, and life here.
