The House Of The Chestnut

What are two people from Denver Colorado (USA) doing moving abroad to the countryside of O Rosal, Galicia, Spain?

Hi, we're Fallene and Kyle. In 2022, we made a life-changing decision: we left behind our fast-paced lives in Denver, Colorado to embrace a slower, more intentional lifestyle in a small village in northwest Galicia, Spain.

Our home is called La Casa del CastañoCastaño means chestnut in Spanish. It’s named after the large, old chestnut tree on our property. Chestnuts are symbols of big change, and that’s exactly what this journey has been for us since our move in 2022.

After two decades in Denver, we realized we were living to work instead of working to live.

That’s when we began searching for homes in Europe, hoping to find a climate with a longer growing season.

We stumbled upon Galicia—and a year later, we made the bold decision to sell everything, pack up our four cats, and start a brand new chapter here in Spain.
